JP: Doc Marcus and the Cap

Post by Sebastian Farrell » Wed Jan 01, 2020 8:28 pm

Rumours were rife of a new officer who was starting to annoy one or two with his supposed cocksure attitude and a desire to look into the 'strangest illness' someone could think of. It wasn't often that rumours made their way to the Captain but when they did, they were usually true, which caused great curiosity inside the master and commander of the Nogura, so much he had ditched an engineering team to finally go and make the acquaintance of the new Chief Medical Officer. Strolling along deck six, the Captain tapped his commbadge.

"Computer," he spoke whilst nodding to Ensign Leyton from Astrophysics, "what is the location of Doctor Marcus?"

"Doctor Marcus is located in the immunology lab." The computer replied.

Aaron had finally found time to himself. The physicals were done, well everyone except the Captain and Lord knew that Captains never came for physicals. With his new found free time he decided to continue his research into Bendii syndrome. His work currently took him to the immunology lab where he was working with Vulcnoid stem cells to cure the disease. The work was labor intensive and stressful, but if it worked everything would be worth it.

Entering the turbo lift at the end of the deck, the Captain directed the transportation vehicle to deck twelve, home of the various medical facilities on the ship. 'Perhaps,' he thought to himself, 'I'll need some jabs to become immune from this guys strange illnesses?' the Captain smirked as he shook his head and travelled the way in silence.

In the midst of his work, the doors parted with the ever familiar hiss and granted someone entrance to the lab. Once the doors closed, sealing them in, the new body spoke. "Doctor Marcus, I presume?"

"You presume correct. No kindly be quiet as I cure the Vulcan brain." Aaron replied without looking up, his eyes were glued to the lenses of a microscope. His hands manipulated holographic cells into position. If this worked he would have a cure for Bendii Syndrome within the week and that would be his ticket out of this place.

'Well, that was rude', thought the Commander as she tolerated his nonsense for a moment, the briefest of moments in fact. When she had tolerated his brashness for as long as she could, she finally spoke again. "It is customary to speak with respect to ones commanding officer doctor, whether or not you respect them, or the uniform they wear, or the rank that they hold," she told sternly as she stood there with her arms folded defiantly across her chest and a scowl that would refreeze the thawing ice caps of Andoria itself.

Aaron sighed heavily as his latest sythesis formula did not work. Well the sigh was partially for that and partially for the words that he had just heard. He stood up and looked at the Captain. "Well sir with all do respect I thought that stopping a disease that has been ravaging our staunchest allies for centuries would be more important then standing to attention. However, here I am sir, Lieutenant Commander Aaron Marcus your Chief Medical Officer reporting as ordered." He came to a half heartened attention as he spoke. Clearly the Doctor simply wanted the Captain out of his hair and out of his Sick Bay.

Seeing and hearing the apparent irritation he had caused the Chief Medical Officer should have made the Captain feel somewhat apologetic, but instead he felt rather amused at the unfolding situation. "The Montgomery Scott of the medical profession, I see? A regular miracle worker are you, Doctor?" Sebastian queried as his stance softened and he took a few steps further into the lab.
