Lieutenant Commander Aria Winters
Name Aria Winters
Position Executive Officer
Rank Lieutenant Commander
|Physical Description||Aria is of just above average height, at just over 5ft8. While she is now 35 years old, her Human/El-Aurian mixed heritage makes in appear to be in her mid to late twenties. While her hair is long, when on duty it is always tied or in a knot to keep it within regulations. Her eyes are a pale blue, almost grey but can pull of an icy stare when needed.
On a rare occasion, when off duty, scaring is visible on her back. It is not something she ever discusses, in part as they relate to a classified assignment.
|Personality Overview||Born on Vulcan to Federation diplomats, Aria was exposed to a rich variety of cultures and customs growing up. Nevertheless she can be entirely undiplomatic at times if her patience is stretched too thin. She is an eternal student, always learning for her benefit and the benefit of those around her. She is a fast study, with an ability to often see beyond the immediate problem. Perhaps typical of someone born to an El-Aurian mother and two diplomats, she is a good listener and tends to let people air their troubles and come to their own conclusions without the need to actually guide them down a particular path.
Initially serving as a science officer, she has built up knowledge of engineering and tactical, serving all three departments throughout her career. Eventually she was guided onto the command track and while it was not a path she had initially considered, she has enjoyed the unique challenges it provides.
|Ambitions, Hobbies and Interests||Aria never stops learning, although one of her greatest interests is running. She finds it a perfect time to not only exercise but to ponder anything on her mind.
She loves reading old classical novels from Earth, usually with a glass of wine in hand.
Her ambition, ultimately, is to find a place she feels comfortable and her home from home.
|Strengths and Weaknesses||Strengths:
Fast learner, quick study.
Loyal friend, always willing to listen
Experience within various departments.
While always willing to lend an ear, she does not discuss her own life as readily and not with everyone.
Can be very stubborn if something makes her want to stand her ground.

|Pre-Starfleet History||Aria was born in 2354, to Kayla and Ross Winters who were both assigned to the Vulcan embassy. An only child, much of her childhood was spent in isolation which suited her just fine. More in love with books and puzzles than socialising.
It was evident from a young age that she would excel in her academic studies, which her parents encouraged. They assigned her a Vulcan tutor who guided her studies and pushed her to truly challenge her abilities. Between her studies she assisted her parents as they worked, learning different languages and cultures. Ultimately, though, she became more comfortable around Vulcans than even her fellow Humans.
That said, she was also fascinated - and sometimes horrified - by the stories passed down to her from her mother. While almost sure some of them were nothing more than folk tales, at the time, a young Aria would often have nightmares about them. Mostly though, she was driven to seek out her own adventures and see what the universe held. To that end she focused her attention on the entrance exam for Stafleet Academy.
|Starfleet Service History||Age 16, Aria began her career as a cadet. She excelled in her studies but found the social aspect of life on campus more of a challenge. She gravitated more towards her fellow scientists and formed some unlikely friendships which survive to this day. Within her studies, however, she quickly distinguished herself as an exemplary student. It was of little surprise when she went on to graduate top of her class.
All other information on her career after that point was classified with little information known about the intervening years.
In 2384, however, she was debriefed and assigned to the USS Rhode Island as Chief Science Officer. Assigned on a scientific mission in deep space, the Rhode Island is due to return to Earth within weeks as the five year mission draws to a close.
