History

Cameron Peter Lynch was born in September 2335 the only son of Martin and Charlotte Lynch. As an only child, he was doted on by his loving parents but often felt throughout his adult life that he had missed out on something without a brother or sister. That decision, however, had never been his to make.

Music played a large part of Cameron’s life growing up. His father was a classically trained pianist who taught himself, and his son, to play the violin and by the time Cameron was born his father was a conductor, then serving as the principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Cameron’s earliest memories is his father playing the Moonlight Sonata on the grand piano at their home in London.

Between Martin’s career as a conductor, often travelling throughout the Federation for concerts, and Charlotte’s career with the Starfleet, which frequently took her away from home for months at a time, Cameron was often left in the care of his maternal grandparents. Both were retired from Starfleet and would often regale their grandson with stories of their careers.

Cameron was always a very active child. He loved, and continues to love, to go hiking with his family. But his first love was swimming. He’d always found it to be a fantastic way to relax and he would often spend hours swimming the stresses of the day away. Throughout High School he was a member of the swim team, rising to captain the team during his final year.

Following in the footsteps of his grandparents and mother, Cameron applied to the Academy in 2353 and began classes in the fall of that year. There was no difficulty for Cameron to adapt to the much stricter way of life within Starfleet. It was physically and mentally demanding, but the young Cadet took it in his stride. He’d been preparing his whole life for a career as a Starfleet Flight Officer.

Cameron graduated in 2357 with a bachelor’s degree in Propulsion Systems Engineering and was commissioned an Ensign. Ensign Lynch’s first assignment out of the Academy was as Flight Operations Officer & Shuttle Pilot on the Miranda-class U.S.S. Saratoga.
